Constructed of zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a round oak leaf wreath, the obverse with a raised mobile swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of FR VERDIENSTE IM LUFTSCHUTZ (FOR MERIT IN AIR PROTECTION), the reverse with a central raised institution date of 1938, unmarked, measuring 38. 44 mm in diameter, weighing 25. 6
