King Canute and Earl Ulf quarrel over chess Size:XS: 20 x 15cm 249 of the Narrative ofKing Canute and Earl Ulf quarrel over chess, Roskilde, Denmanrk, 1026 (1913). King Canute (c985 1035) was Viking King of England, Norway and Denmark. Ulf Jarl Torgilsson (c998 1026) married King Canute's sister and was appointed by Canute as the Earl of Denmark.
