Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with bronze backplate and horizontal pinback, the obverse with an inscription of VERDIENST UM DEN STAAT (SERVICE TO THE STATE), within a laurel wreath joined at the bottom by a ribbon, the reverse with a monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, unmarked,
