So I would guess it was a woman who did these designs

I presume it dates from the late 60s or so

circa 1940s and all of 3 inches tall

Everything about this painting is just winningly done, from the slightly drooping rose at its center to the buoyant lilac that you can just about smell, to the wispy leaves and stems that delicately burst out in every direction.
